The site, which uses under-utilised land near the entrance of the car park, will provide a 120 bed hotel for Premier Inn. A small part of the car park will be demolished and other parts improved, as part of the development.
The Council will design and construct the hotel, subject to planning permission, and the building will then be let to Whitbread / Premier Inn.
Following positive feedback during a public exhibition the Council has now submitted a planning application for the new hotel and improvements to Terrace Car Park. It is anticipated that the planning application will be determined in June or July 2019.
Subject to planning permission, it is expected that work will start on site in October 2019 and be complete by end January 2021.
