Eaton’s Patisserie relocates to Torbay
Torbay Council’s support encourages Eaton’s Patisserie to move to Torbay.
On behalf of Torbay Council, a deal brokered by TDA sees Eaton’s Patisserie relocate to the former Ministry of Pudding site in Watcombe, Torquay.
The move will bring 36 full-time jobs and 7 part-time jobs to Torbay. As well as safeguarding jobs, the relocation has the potential to create a further 22 new full-time jobs.
Torbay’s Elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: “Torbay continues to attract businesses across our key industries, of which food manufacturing is one. By bringing Eaton’s Patisserie into Torbay we are keeping a site that has been invested in economically active. This site gives Eaton’s a better space to grow and expand their business, which could lead to more jobs being created here.”
Jason Buck, Investment Development Manager at TDA, said: “This deal secures a new inward investor into Torbay. By adding Eaton’s to the existing growing businesses in Torbay, we will see benefits such as job creation and further investment in facilities and people. TDA continues to identify opportunities for growing companies to move into Torbay and make use of the purpose-built business and employment space we have.”
Eaton’s Patisserie will take over the site from Mademoiselle Desserts, a French owned company who acquired Ministry of Pudding in early 2017.
The closure of the site meant the loss of just under 40 jobs. This is when TDA stepped in to make introductions between Mademoiselle Desserts and Eaton’s Patisserie to discuss the sale of the site.
Gerard Verdino, UK Group Chairman of Mademoiselle Desserts said: “Unfortunately we had to take the decision to close in December 2017 but we are pleased that Torbay Council and TDA have been able to support us through this and help find a viable solution. We would like to thank TDA for their support and wish Eaton’s Patisserie every success in their new premises.”
Russell Eaton, Managing Director of Eaton’s Patisserie, said: “We would like to thank Mademoiselle Desserts and TDA for making this deal possible. It has taken many years for Eaton`s Patisserie to find a suitable site to enable us to increase production of our quality handmade desserts. Now that access to Torbay has improved it makes it the ideal location for us to expand and increase our successful team.”
The deal was agreed on Friday 8 June with Eaton’s Patisserie moving to the site by the end of July.
Eaton’s Patisserie currently employs 35 staff and is actively recruiting into more roles. If you’re interested in employment opportunities at the new Eaton’s Patisserie site you can contact Tracy Wells at email@example.com
